EDUCATION
In addition to committing our performances to an atmosphere of invitation and curiosity, VOP also offers purely educational programs. Our board has worked with universities, public school systems, churches, and American Guild of Organist chapters to present educational programs about the organ. Topics have included the fundamentals of how an organ works, modern organ notation practices, the features of digital organs, and more. Our board has also worked with composition students as well as individual composers to understand the breadth of the organ’s capabilities and how to notate their ideas idiomatically. Vital Organ Project has presented at Western Michigan University, the University of Minnesota-Duluth, Dordt University, the Muncie AGO Chapter, the Southwest Michigan AGO Chapter, and numerous churches.
