Organ2 / ASLSP • 12-hour Performance

  • First Congregational Church 345 W Michigan Ave Kalamazoo, MI 49007 USA (map)

This 12-hour performance will break the world record for “the longest live performance of a single musical piece performed by a team of humans”…by 4 hours! Come to downtown Kalamazoo and bask in the sounds of First Congregational’s 20-year-old organ and enjoy the beautiful sanctuary that is coming up on its 100-year anniversary. Audience members are free to come and go or to stay for as much of the piece as they like. Each of the 8 sections of the work will be 90 minutes in length and be performed in immediate succession.

All are welcome, but we encourage you to be curious, listen, and explore. Our suggested donation for entry is $24 (about $1 for every 30 minutes). Donations are encouraged and will go to support Vital Organ Project and the performers of this work.

Organ2/ASLSP is divided into 8 equal sections. For this performance, each will last 90 minutes.

Given our fast-moving times, this project is a form of attempted deceleration, the “discovery of slowness” and the planting of a “musical apple tree” understood as a symbol of confidence in the future.
